CastingWords, in my opinion, is just really not worth it. I never see anything other than "review the transcript" ones that only pay 0.07 a piece. And I have Senior Transcriptionist badges and 18+ years of experience. As to the OP's question, how much you will make is going to depend on experience, skill level, and a lot how much you put into it and the amount of dedication you put forth. For a lot of people, working from home can be very difficult, as it can be much harder to avoid distractions. But it is possible to make a livable income and support yourself, or even a family with the income one can make from transcription, if you put in the time and effort to get there. As someone with no experience, it will not be an immediate thing and you will have to work your way up to that, but do not get discouraged. Take advantage of every opportunity to hone your skills. Do you listen to podcasts? Type them up as you are listening to sharpen your skills. Compare it to the transcripts that the podcast may already have available, if there is one. See how you did. Follow a single speaker YouTube channel? Do the same there. I have in the past practiced with typing up commercials while I was watching television. There are plenty of ways to practice out there. Limit distractions while you are working. Remember to take breaks at least every couple of hours to avoid fatigue. All of these things will help improve your earning potential.

Yes, one can make decent money in general transcription. But how much money you make depends on your transcription skills, the company you are working with, and the time you are working per day. I'm making around $12 to $15 per hour on an average. I'm trying to land a job at GMR Transcription, Casting Words, Speechpad, and companies that pay well. But their hiring criteria are tough.
