In my experience, the best approach is to focus on the speaker’s meaning rather than trying to transcribe every broken sentence exactly as spoken. When a speaker shifts thoughts mid-sentence, I usually break the speech into shorter, clearer sentences so the transcript reads naturally. I also use punctuation to reflect pauses or interruptions and remove unnecessary fillers if they don’t affect the meaning. At the same time, it’s important not to rewrite or change what the speaker intended to say. If something is unclear or incomplete, it’s better to mark it rather than guess. The goal is to keep the transcript accurate while also making it clear and easy to read.
